Independent web design, development & SEO · Trevor Unland

What’s spoken can be lost.
What’s written lasts.

Your website should tell people exactly why you matter, and give search engines enough substance to understand it. Otherwise, that message gets lost among competitors who explain themselves better online. I design, build, and improve sites that carry your message clearly.

Where I begin

You already have a website. Why isn’t it working harder?

A site can look finished and still leave important questions unanswered. Can a visitor tell what you offer in seconds? Are the pages built around what people actually search for? Does the HTML tell search engines what each page means?

I start by looking at what is there.

Pages, copy, crawl paths, metadata, structured data, speed, Search Console, and the route from a visit to an inquiry.

How I work

A good build starts before the first line of code.

01 / Listen

Find the gap

We look at your business, your current site, the searches that matter, and the point where visitors stop moving forward.

02 / Write

Make the message clear

I shape the page plan and copy around what customers need to know, with a distinct job for each useful URL.

03 / Build

Design the whole system

Responsive pages, readable HTML, search metadata, structured data where it fits, and a path to contact you.

04 / Verify

Check what shipped

I test the rendered pages, links, mobile layout, crawl signals, and measurement setup before calling the work ready.

Why work with Trevor

I understand the business side and the build side.

I have worked in business development with leading marketing agencies, led marketing and digital-presence improvements, and built public technical products and research sites myself. That mix changes the questions I ask. A website has to be understandable, maintainable, and useful to the person trying to hire you.

Questions worth answering

A few things people ask before a rebuild.

Can you improve my current site without replacing it?

Often, yes. I first look at the structure, content, technical setup, and limits of the current platform. A rebuild should have a reason, not be the default answer.

Will I lose the pages Google already knows?

Existing URLs and search traffic are part of the redesign plan. I map pages and redirects before changing the structure, then check the live result after launch.

Does SEO or schema guarantee I’ll rank or appear in an AI answer?

No. Clear, accessible pages and accurate technical signals help systems understand the site. Rankings, indexing, and citations depend on more than markup, so I measure what actually happens.
